It’s So Difficult I wish everyone would read this book. The story of a nonverbal child and all the words that are trapped inside him as he goes through his day. He wants to speak, but just can’t make those words come out. A heartbreakingly beautiful book.
Holding Up The Universe I love books that challenge us to “see” the people around us and remind us that the words we speak matter. This book did that for me and I think it will do it for you too.
Me (Moth) I loved this audiobook, read by the author, told in verse. This is a book with a surprise so big you will want to go back and re-read it after you finish it just so you can read it knowing what you find out in the end.
Poppy This animal centered story has bullies, heroes, and enough excitement to keep the story moving. A classic read-aloud.
When We Were Lost A plane crash in the jungle with animals, reptiles, insects and heat set the stage for this survival story. A realistic adventure that was a fast and compelling read.
You Bring the Distant Near A story that spans three generations with a little romance and humor. I loved how connected the generations were as each character struggled to balance the responsibility they felt to their family with the desire to find their own path, it was so authentic.
With the Fire on High Rather than a story that ends when a young women gets pregnant this story begins with that and tells the inspiring story of a young women, working with her family and friends, to follow her dreams. A very inspiring story.
The Wild Robot This story was fast paced and filled with adventure. It makes a great read aloud, and our kids didn’t want the reading to stop.
The Rough Patch This one made me cry, we read it every day for weeks after we lost our beloved dog.
