Foundation Board Approves Five Grants Print

Foundation logoAt their July 2013 meeting, the Whatcom County Library Foundation board of directors approved five grant applications totaling $4,000.  These grants enable the Whatcom County Library System to provide access, build community, encourage life-long learning, and promote early learning and literacy.

Grant check$1,000 for advertising the “My Library Card Taught Me” Campaign, encouraging everyone in Whatcom County to sign up for a library card.

$1,000 for outdoor banners for September’s Library Card Sign-Up Month campaign.

$1,000 to the South Whatcom Library at Sudden Valley for exterior windows for their new library project.

$500 to the North Fork Community Library for the Bandura Concert slated for September 21, 2013.  This project targets the area’s Slavic community, but all are welcome to enjoy this event!

$500 to Everson Library’s “Welcome Baby” Community Baby Shower, where parents will learn valuable tips on how to help their children, birth through age 8, develop a lifelong love of learning.  The information will be presented in both English and Spanish. Each participating family will receive a baby book and a nursery rhyme book to start their children on the journey of early learning.
