RIP Vince Flynn Print

Picture of Vince Flynn, clean cut and in a suit and tie, along with jacket covers from his most recent book Vince Flynn, author of CIA pageturners starring counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp, succumbed to cancer on Wednesday morning in St. Paul, MN.  It is not clear yet how far along he was in work on his next novel, The Survivor, that was slated for an October release.  Flynn informed his novels by careful study of what was going on in the world and was so spot-on in his observations that the Secret Service is rumored to have used his novels to identify lapses in their security.  President George W. Bush once described his books as being "a little too accurate," an opinion supported by the fact that many of his titles undergo a security review by the Pentagon before release.  Flynn is a self-publishing success story; his first book, Term Limits, was rejected so many times that he finally published it himself in 1997.  GoodReads lists Ernest HemingwayRobert LudlumTom ClancyJ.R.R. TolkienGore Vidal, and John Irving as writing influences.  Add Vince Flynn titles to your summer reading list HERE.
