Honoring Native American Heritage Print Email

November is National Native American Heritage Month.  Check out Sherman Alexie's Blasphemy: New and Selected Stories, a collection with 15 of this National Book Award winner's best-known short pieces and 15 recent ones.  Alexie candidly outlines daily life on a reservation in the Pacific Northwest while also grappling with issues of racism, infidelity and various messy conflicts that arise in everyday lives.  Alexie covers some serious ground in this collection, but his signature provocative humor is laced throughout, making this a great showcase of Alexie at his best and, at times, most surprising.  You might also want to browse this listing of Native authors by name, book title and tribe.
