The Whatcom County Library Foundation Board awarded the Whatcom County Library System a $6,000 grant to purchase flat panel LCD monitors that will feature rotating selection of slides that highlight library services and events. All ten branches in the system will have a monitor.
“It is not uncommon to hear patrons remark that they ‘didn’t know the library did that,’” said WCLS Executive Director, Christine Perkins. “Wall mounted digital displays are eye-catching and they convey a lot of information for patrons to view while using the library.”
The Foundation’s mission is to support the library district’s strategic framework. Advocacy and access are two initiatives that will be addressed when the monitors are in place.
“We are thrilled to be able to support this system-wide project. No matter which branch our patrons visit, they will have access to this exciting new means of sharing library information,” said Amory Peck, Chair of the WCLF Board of Directors.
Installation of the monitors will be completed by May 2014. Funding for this grant was made possible by private gifts to the Whatcom County Library Foundation.
