The Agatha Awards, named in honor of Agatha Christie, recognize excellent writing in the "traditional" mystery.  Awarded annually by Malice Domestic at their "fun fan" convention in Washington D.C., the genre is loosely defined as containing no explicit sex or excessive gore or violence.  If you are an Agatha Christie fan, or prefer to steer clear of more hard-boiled mysteries, these winners might be just your cup of tea.  Click on any of the book titles above to reserve in the library catalog.  (To see the list of all nominees, click here.)  Congratulations to Sara J. Henry whose book Learning to Swim also just won an Edgar Award!  Mystery writers take note - the winner for best nonfiction, Books, Crooks and Counselors, is a mystery-writing lawyer answering questions about how to write accurately about criminal law and courtroom procedure.  Great reference!
