If you are a farmer's market fan or growing your own garden, it's easy to wind up with more fruits and vegetables than you know what to do with.  Kevin West decided to deal with this problem head on and the resulting blog (Savingtheseason.com) is now a cookbook.  In Saving the Season: A Cook's Guide to Home Canning, Pickling, and Preserving, West provides a simple and complete guide to saving the fruits of your labor.  The cookbook is divided by season, making it easier to deal with each season's produce.  West also uses his East Tennessee storytelling background to accompany his recipes with lively stories and essays.  Mmm ... homemade strawberry jam and green tomato chutney!  See the Canning and Preserving subject heading for other materials on this topic.
