Golden Apple Award to JDC Book Club programSeveral awards are given at the gathering, including the Outstanding Friends Service Award, presented to the Friends of the North Fork Community Library for their "Miracle Library" literally build by their community.  Honorees for the Outstanding Friend Service Award were Marie Becker of the Deming Friends and the Friends of the Everson Library.

Over 70 Friends, Foundation members, and library staff attended the gathering which was themed "Strengthening Community Connections through Coordination, Community, and Cooperation."  The Friends of the Lynden Public Library hosted the event, which was the largest gathering yet!Foundation members show off their work

Another award given is for the best library advocacy goals - the prize is a home-cooked dinner at the director's home, and this year, the Friends of the Deming Library will enjoy the award.

All the groups shared stories, news, and great ideas for fundraising and programming.  And a lot of laughter!  Friends of the Library groups and the Marie Becker of the Deming Friends is honoredFoundation provide funding a support for programs, furnishings, and facilities - Deming, North Fork, and Island all own the buildings that house their libraries!  The Whatcom County Library System thanks our fabulous Friends and Foundation for all they do to support libraries and reading in Whatcom County.
